It is compact by design, comprised of 6 core modules that it requires to operate. They have placed great emphasis on quality construction using only the essential components. If you count the value of the time i wasted on this machine i could have bought a name brand printer ready out of the box.The minimalist approach is the foundation of the Cetus3D and by far my favorite aspect of this printer. Just wanted something i could use to create small prototype parts on my desk has now turned into a week long project just to get working that i don't have time for. If you are an expert in the opensource community, then you already know more than me. So if you are looking for a neat paper weight get this printer. Wasted an entire work day on this, not happy! Created multiple acct with different email providers, nothing! Problem is not on my end. PROBLEM never sent the link to my email! Dead in the water at step 1. Seemed simple enough, create an account and they send you a link to activate the software features. The biggest problem is the UpStudio Software. I had to back trace all the wire myself to figure out what the hell they were trying to explain in every one of the instruction steps. Manual both print and website was completely useless. It was a pain to assemble but that's true for any of the open source printers. I leveled the bed, loaded filament and printed what I call a Glue Caddy to keep my modelling glue bottle from being knocked over. All the tools needed are provided with the printer to complete the setup. The setup was easy, good directions and photos in the Quick Start Guide. I would highly recommend the purchase of this printer. The print quality of the object I printed was very nice. The process of assembly of the printer, download of the printer software and printing my first object was easy for me. The Quick Start Guide that came with the printer had great photos on how to assemble the MK3. It took just 21 minutes to assemble the printer. The components were of great quality (stainless steel) I was impressed with the packaging and the ease of printer assembly. This product should honestly be sold with a warning label and or removed from amazon until the company corrects these issues.Īfter looking at different printer designs I liked the Cetus MK3 extended the best. There are plenty of other printers that are just as good and even better for less money that do not have these issues. While there is an open source CPU available for this printer, it costs $80 is unavailable everywhere I have checked and is just the same NXP Arm CPU it comes with but flashed with an Opensource compatible GCODE compatible firmware.ĭon't buy this printer, do not reward bad behavior. I wish I had seen those reviews before buying this printer. This printer would be a great product if it supported GCODE and you where not forced to register it with the manufacture just to use it.Ĭompany dose not care about your privacy and has been sticking to this requirement despite the fact that this has been consistent negative feedback from notable product reviewers. The software gives you very limited, to almost no, control over the print settings and slicer settings beyond some basic infill amounts. You can only only print a few times with it before it says "print limit exceeded" forcing you to register this wi-fi enabled device with the product with the Chinese manufacture. This triggers an automatic 1 star review and this aspect of the product is an immediate fail please remove this requirement. To use the printer you need to register it with the manufacturer (Chinese Company) and have an account with them. ![]() ![]() Can not run GCODE, The 3d printed parts on the printer are flimsy and brittle. Not compatible with open source printer control software like Repetier-Host.
